A Love Letter From Adriana Young To Her Husband

A mother of two reflects on her husband's unconditional love for his wife and their children.

To celebrate Valentine’s Day, we asked Patch readers to write a love letter to that special someone and let us deliver it. This is Adriana Young’s love letter to her husband:

“This letter is for my husband. We just had our second child two months ago, and normally the mother gets all the praise for carrying, delivering and raising their children. But to be fair, I couldn’t have done it without my husband. He has been there for me since we started dating in tenth grade. (Technically we started dating in eighth grade, but I thought I was cool and wanted to be “single for the summer”... long story.)

We have been together for 15 years and married for almost four years. We are blessed with a beautiful one-and-a-half-year-old girl and a handsome two-month-old boy. I want to thank him for being so patient with me even during my mental episodes and random meltdowns during my pregnancy and even more after. He was always willing to tie my shoes when my belly was too big to reach. Trips to the grocery store became tiresome, but regardless of how tired or how long of a day he’s had, he would do what needed to get done for us and our family.

He is a very hands-on father who cares and loves his children so much. With our first child, every other week he would work all night, sleep for a few hours and then watch our daughter while I worked all day. We have great support from our parents but he felt that if he’s home, it should be his responsibility to take care of our kids. They have such a special bond and she adores him. Now I’m home on maternity leave and although I’m not working, he still comes home after working and helps get the kids ready for bed.

I just want him and the world to know that I love and appreciate all he does for our family and I am so thankful to have him as my partner.”
