Man Claims School Psychologist Sexually Abused Him At Age 14
The now 37-year-old recently filed a lawsuit alleging that the psychologist "groomed" and sexually abused him in the late '90s.
LONG ISLAND, NY — A Long Island man filed a lawsuit in June claiming he was sexually abused by his school psychologist when he was 14-years-old in the late 90s, according to a recent report in Newsday.
The lawsuit states that the now 37-year-old North Babylon man was allegedly abused by the now 46-year-old Center Moriches woman who worked at Udall Road Middle School, West Islip High School, Eastern Suffolk BOCES and the Brookhaven Learning Center, Newsday reports.
She allegedly "groomed" the teen for months, first at the Brookhaven Learning Center in Bellport and then at West Islip High School, until November 1997 when she ended their sexual relationship. The relationship led to the man suffering from depression, anxiety and substance abuse, according to the report.

The attorney representing the school psychologist, Brett Zinner, stated in a statement that the claims are "totally untrue and fabricated."
"My client worked at BOCES for 6 years, and another 22 years with the District, and never had any complaints filed against her for sexual misconduct or anything else for that matter," the statement read. "The plaintiff was at a school for emotionally disturbed children before he even met my client."
