CENTRAL ISLIP, NY — A West Islip man was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison on Tuesday for fatally stabbing his wife at her Copiague home last year, according to Suffolk County District Attorney Timothy Sini. On Jan. 21, 2019, Wayne Alcus, stabbed his wife, Patricia Alcus in her home on Lake Drive, the DA said.

Their 18-year-old son, who was home at the time of the stabbing, was injured while trying to take the knife away from his father, the DA said. Patricia, who was 55, was pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic from the Copiague Fire Department.

"This was a horrific, brutal murder, carried out by the defendant in cold blood and in the presence of his own child," Sini said.
