Man Seriously Injured In West Islip Crash

Police say his car left the road and hit a tree when he was driving on Route 27A last night.

WEST ISLIP, NY — A Babylon man was seriously injured in a car crash in West Islip late Saturday night.

According to police, Robert Ferri was driving a 2001 Ford sedan east on Route 27A around 11 p.m. when he left the roadway and struck a tree between Admirals Drive East and Otis Lane.

Ferri, 65, of Babylon, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of serious injuries. A 28-year-old man who was in the car with him was also taken to the hospital, but he had non-life-threatening injuries.

The car was impounded for a brake an safety check, police said. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
