Marathon Runner Honored by Town Supervisor For Fundraising Efforts

Eva Casale, a Glen Cove resident, runs marathons to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Marathon runner Eva Casale, a Glen Cove resident and a member of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training, was honored for her outstanding fundraising efforts at Islip’s Town Board meeting on August 5.

Eva recently ran seven marathons in seven consecutive days in an effort to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. One of the marathons was dedicated to the late Rich Arcuri, a former Team in Training member and local contractor from Bay Shore who passed away in June after a work-related accident. The last leg of the race stretched past his home and balloons were released in his memory and honor as the runners went past.

“Eva is truly an inspiration to our community and is a perfect reminder to always help those in need and to always remember our fallen,” said Islip Supervisor Tom Croci.
