Memorial Day Guide To Islip Town Beaches: What You Need To Know
Beaches will be opening starting this holiday weekend, but with some restrictions. Check out what you need to know before you head out.

TOWN OF ISLIP, NY — Beaches will open in the Town of Islip for Memorial Day weekend, but with certain restrictions due to the coroanvirus. Town beaches will be open beginning Saturday, May 23 through Monday, May 25 from sunrise to dusk for residents only. Bathroom facilities and concession stands will remain closed. In addition, swimming will not be permitted and lifeguards will not be on duty at most beaches, all in accordance with ‘Reopening New York’ guidelines.

Town of Islip Beach openings for May 23:

- Atlantique Ocean beach will be open for swimming and passive use May 23, 24, and 25 of Memorial Day weekend
- There will lifeguard coverage from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Limited restrooms will be open during swimming hours (11 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and will be cleaned and sanitized on a regular basis
- Social distancing and acceptable face coverings within 6 feet of one another are required; while sitting in beach chairs or towels, masks are not required
- Mainland Bay Beaches will be open for public access and passive use; there will be no swimming
- Beach access will be limited to residents only and Town of Islip Rec Card or other identification will be required
- Bathrooms will be closed
- Beach capacity must be reduced by 50 percent; we will have monitors at the beach managing capacity as per NYS mandatory guidelines.
- Public will have access to beaches from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

- West Islip Beach
- Benjamin’s Beach at Bay Shore Marina
- Islip Beach
- East Islip Marina Park Beach
- Sayville Marina Park Beach
- Bayport Beach
- Lake Ronkonkoma Park Beach

"We realize that residents are looking forward to enjoying the Memorial Day Holiday weekend, and encourage everyone to be mindful of the guidelines while outdoors. I am urging everyone to be considerate of one another by following the protocols for wearing face coverings and social distancing," Supervisor Angie Carpenter said. "As we work to reopen New York, we must recognize that we are all individually responsible for the progress we have made as a county and a state, but that we are not yet out of the woods."
