National Park Service to Ban Alcohol on Parts of Fire Island

Starting on August 1, alcohol will be banned between the communities of Atlantique and Corneille Estates.

Beginning on August 1, the National Park Service (NPS) will ban alcohol on the federal lands between the Town of Islip communities of Atlantique and Corneille Estates on Fire Island.

With over 500 visitors to these natural areas on weekends, the results of improper refuse disposal and the degradation of dunes and vegetation have become apparent. According to its website, the NPS will use a “progressive law enforcement approach” to enforce the regulation.
