The "New" La Grange- "The White Elephant"
As the renovated La Grange sits completed for over a year, We ask what's going on?
When CVS Corp wanted the location on the corner of Higbie Lane, and Montauk hwy in West Islip, they were faced with having to deal with the "La Grange" Restaurant/Catering facility. It was subsequently moved a few hundred yards, and renovated. The "New" La Grange was supposed to be for our community, including use by the West Islip Historical Society. As it sits completed for over a year, and it is not clear what agreement was made by the real owners of that building and the Town of Islip. Did The Town of Islip contribute any money to the renovation? What is the lease arrangement between the owners, and The Town of Islip/West Islip? Our Community deserves answers and full disclosure.
