New Mexican Restaurant To Open In West Islip

The restaurant will take over the former Roots Bistro Gourmand, which announced it was closing down last week.

A new Mexican restaurant will be opening up in West Islip.

Besito will soon be taking over the former Roots Bistro Gourmand on 399 Montauk Highway.

After five years, Roots Bistro Gourmand announced last week it was closing its doors.

"Thank you for your warm friendship, support and patronage," a message on the restaurant's website reads. "We wish the future occupants of this space success."

This will mark the third Long Island restaurant for Besito, with locations in Roslyn and Huntington. Besito also has locations in Massachusetts and Conneticut.

Owner John Tunney opened the first restaurant in 2006 before expanding and opening up a total of 6 restaurants.

There is still no official opening date for the new West Islip business, but the restaurant is expected to open by June.
