Obituary: Francis Morcerf, of West Islip, Dies at 95
The longtime local resident passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 17.

WEST ISLIP, NY — Francis (Frank) Morcerf, of West Islip, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2021. He was 95.
He was born to Florence (Anderson) and Frank Morcerf in Brooklyn where he graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School. He was in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater and graduated from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute (NYU) with a degree in Engineering and Management.
Morcerf worked for GE in upstate NY before moving to Wantagh in 1960 to start his 35 year career at Grumman. During his career, he worked on the F-111, F-14, E-2C Hawkeye, Lunar Module as well as other engineering programs. In 1968, he moved his family to West Islip.

Morcerf enjoyed sharing his love of the outdoors — fishing, hunting, sailing, boating — along with his skills in woodworking and boat building with his children and successfully passed along his patient approach to life and respect for learning, nature, and his country.
After he retired, he volunteered at the Long Island Maritime Museum where he was able to use his skills to maintain the museum and the many maritime artifacts.

Morcerf was predeceased by his wife, Kathleen J. Morcerf (Stack), and his sister, Joan M. Morcerf.
He is survived by his four children, Barbara Morcerf Konvalin (John), Jim (Nancy Jean), Joe (Nancy Joan) and Bob (Erin). In addition, Morcerf is survived by his grandchildren Joseph (Chandra), MaryKate Saunders (Kendall), Lauren, Robert, Anna and Brian, as well as his great-grandchildren, Alanna and Gideon.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Shriners Children’s Hospital are requested.
