The grandfather of two died Monday.
Died: October 30, 2017
Visitation: Thursday, Nov. 2 from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons West Islip Funeral Home on 1225 Montauk Highway in West Islip.
Service: Friday, Nov. 3 starting at 12:30 p.m. at the Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons West Islip Funeral Home on 1225 Montauk Highway in West Islip.

Obituary: John Bacany Jr., of West Islip, died Monday, Oct. 30. He was 80.
John was a retired NYPD Detective 1st Grade and a longtime member of the West Islip Fire Department.

He was predeceased in life by his wife, Carol Marie Bacany.
He is survived by his children Laura (Richard) Stevenson and John (Shauna) Bacany, as well as his granddaughters Katie Stevenson and Alexandra Bacany.
John is also survived by his in-laws Joni Bacany, Aida Bacany, Jean Ward and Daniel Flynn, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Interment will take place at the Pinelawn Memorial Park in Pinelawn.
