Obituary: Laura Buccellato Galofaro, of West Islip, Dies at 97
The grandmother of two passed away on Saturday.

Laura Buccellato Galofaro, of West Islip, died in her home October 7. She was 97. She was born in Castellammare Del Golfo, a town in the Trapani Province of Sicily where she also fell in love with and married her late husband, Camillo, in 1948. They brought their family to the United States in 1966, first settling in Brooklyn and later relocating to West Islip.
Galofaro is survived by her children, Vito Galofaro and Toni Galofaro Small, as well as her granddaughters Kelly Small and Laurie Small (Jonathan) Grusky.
She will be remembered by those who knew her for her cooking, sewing talent and ability to draw and paint.

A visitation was held on Tuesday at the Claude R. Boyd-Spencer Funeral Home.
A funeral service was held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in West Islip Wednesday. Entombment took place at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Farmingdale.
