The new initiative will allow the department to connect to schools’ closed circuit television camera systems in the event of an emergency at no additional cost to schools.
The technology will allow police to control the school’s door locks and PA systems remotely will also be tested during the simulations. In addition, the department will use License Plate Readers to help identify a suspect vehicle during one of the scenarios.
Not all scenarios will use the advanced technology and the outcomes of each will be evaluated.
