Proposed Apartment Building To Take Over Former Vet's Office

WEST ISLIP, NY — The fate of a former veterinarian's office in West Islip will be discussed during a Town of Islip meeting this week. The town will be hosting a public hearing virtually on Wednesday, Feb 24 starting at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held electronically via Zoom and will be live-streamed.
Instructions on how to access the Zoom Webinar and/or livestream are available on the Town's website, islipny.gov.
One item on the agenda addresses the property on 467 Higbie Lane, which is the former office of long-time veterinarian, William Herbold, who passed away in 2019.

According to the agenda, the applicant requests a change of zone for an overlay of Planned Landmark Preservation District and a Town Board Special Permit.

The change of zone is to build an 8 unit apartment building and animal care center.
