With the December 31st  deadline rapidly approaching, more than 175,000 Long Island homeowners have yet to re-register for their Basic STAR tax exemption. Missing out on this deadline will cost the average homeowner approximately $800.
Everyone who is enrolled in the Basic STAR program must re-register with the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance by December 31 in order to continue receiving the STAR exemption for 2014 and beyond.
For homeowners who need additional assistance with the process, Senator Phil Boyle will be hosting two STAR Re-Registration Assistance Days on Wednesday, December 18 at the Deer Park Public Library and Thursday, December 19 at the Islip Public Library. Â
