Special Weather Statement in Effect For Long Island
Use caution if you are traveling Tuesday morning. Check out the latest forecast, which includes an increasing chance for a weekend storm.
The National Weather Service has issued the following special weather statement for Long Island:
...Patchy Black Ice Possible Until 9 AM...
Light winds and partly cloudy skies are causing temperatures to cool through the 30s resulting in some frost forming on car windshields, grass, and roads.
Weather conditions will be favorable for the development of patchy black ice until around 9 am this morning.
Motorists should exercise extra caution while driving during this time.
Dangerously low temperatures (a -7 wind chill temperature at 7 a.m. Friday will make you curse living on Long Island) and a potential winter storm featuring snow, rain and freezing rain will be the story toward the end of the week.
