Congratulations to third place winner, Claire McGrath! She tied with Marina Divaris in the late intermediate division at the Suffolk Piano Teachers Foundation's 12th Annual Piano Competition on March 25 and 26, 2017. Claire is a tenth grader at St. John the Baptist School of West Islip. Students competed for cash prizes, medals, and a chance to perform on a renowned concert stage and registered to compete in the five-leveled divisions at the Steinway Piano Gallery of Melville, located at 505 Walt Witman Road in Melville, New York. SPTF wishes to honor Barry Tognolini and thank Steinway Gallery of Long Island for their generous cash award donation for first place winners. All performers were provided with written feedback from adjudicators.
On Thursday, June 1, 2017, first, second, and third place winners will receive their medals at a special Awards Ceremony held in-between two Honors Recitals at Stony Brook University's Staller Center Recital Hall at 5:00 pm and 7:30 pm. Claire, as a third place winner, will receive her medal at this event. First place winners and other honored students throughout Long Island will perform. The event is free and open to the public.
