Suffolk Police Issue New Guidelines To Stop Spread Of Coronavirus
The changes that will limit person-to-person contact to prevent the spread of COVID-19 will begin on Monday.
SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — As coronavirus cases continue to rise across New York, Suffolk County police announced that they will be enacting changes in their operations to stop the spread of COVID-19 starting Monday.
While the precincts will remain open 24/7, the department is encouraging people not to visit the precincts unless it is critically necessary. In addition, fingerprinting services have been suspended and there will be limited public access to the lobby at Suffolk Police Headquarters on 30 Yaphank Ave. in Yaphank, until further notice.
Police reports can be filed and incidents can be reported either online at suffolkpd.org or by phone at 631-852-COPS. Crimes that can be reported online or by phone, in both English and Spanish, include harassing communications, lost property, criminal mischief, non-criminal property damage, minor motor vehicle crashes, identity theft, and some larcenies. If a report cannot be filled online or by phone, an officer will be dispatched. Incident reports, car accident reports, and background checks can also be requested online at suffolkpd.org. Car accident reports can also be obtained at buycrash.com for an additional fee.
