West Islip College LAX Report: Turri Leads Duke To Big Win

The college lacrosse season is in full swing and some former West Islip High School stars are once again having an impact. Throughout the spring season, Patch will provide weekly updates on local players. • Sophomore Kyle Turri made nine saves for Duke as the Blue Devils defeated defending national champion Loyola 9-8 on Friday. Starting for injured goaltender Dan Wigrizer, Turri stepped in to help lead Duke to a much-needed win. Check out highlights from the game and a post-game interview with Turri.
• Freshman Jack Kelly made nine saves and allowed seven goals for Brown in the Bears 17-9 victory over St. Joseph’s. Kelly played 53:50 and was replaced late in the fourth quarter.

• Yale’s Michael McCormack had a goal in the Bulldogs’ 12-8 win over Fairfield. The defenseman also nabbed two groundballs and had one caused turnover.
• It was another big day for Michael Sagl. The Quinnipiac sophomore had six points (1G, 5A) in the Bobcats 10-6 win over Vermont. Through three games this season, Sagl has 6 goals and 8 assists.

• Andrew Hodgson had a goal and 2 assists for Towson in the Tigers’ 10-9 overtime loss to Marist.
• Bryan Badolato had two goals for Marquette, but the Golden Eagles came up short against Jacksonville 13-7. Also for Marquette; Goaltender JJ Sagl had 15 saves, Brendan Smith had 1 assist and Liam Byrnes had 6 groundballs.
• Katie Rotan had 5 goals and 1 assist for LIU Post in the team’s 23-8 win over Southern New Hampshire.
• A West Islip duo playing for Adelphi’s women’s lacrosse team enjoyed a big day vs. Philadelphia. Devan Crimi had 7 points (4G, 3A) and Sara Sangiorgio had 6 points (4G, 2A) in the Panthers’ 20-3 win.
• Casey Sarle had 3 goals and Michelle Genovese had 1 goal for Oneonta in the Red Dragons’ 23-10 victory over Marywood.
• Hartwick’s Jackie Moynihan had 3 shots on goal, 3 ground balls, 1 caused turnover and 6 draw controls in the Hawks’ 16-10 loss to New Paltz.
• Junior goaltender Alyssa Costantino had four saves and allowed no goals for Syracuse in the Orange’s 10-3 win over Towson. Costantino played 30 minutes in the second half.
