West Islip Girls Lacrosse Team Wins Suffolk Championship

The Lady Lions will play for the Long Island title on Sunday.

The West Islip High School varsity girls lacrosse team won the Suffolk County championship for the third year in a row on May Monday.

In the Class A game, held at Dowling Sports Complex in Shirley, third-seeded West Islip beat top-seeded Smithtown West, 9-8. Emily Piciullo scored the game-winning goal with 1:24 left.

West Islip’s squad will try for their third Long Island title at noon on Sunday, June 5 at Stony Brook University's LaValle Stadium, facing the winner of the Nassau championship finals, Massapequa.
