West Islip Marina Playground Begins Reconstruction

The rebuilding was funded in part by the "Where Angels Play" foundation, which aims to build 26 playgrounds.

Suffolk County Treasurer Angie Carpenter honored businesses and community organizations that assisted with the rebuilding of West Islip Marina’s playground, which was destroyed by Superstorm Sandy.

“Thanks to the hard work and donations from so many groups and businesses, the children in our community will be able to once again enjoy the playground at the West Islip Marina,” said Treasurer Carpenter.

The West Islip Fire Department was one of over 20 different businesses that helped with the rebuilding. Most of the funding for the project came from the “Where Angels Play” foundation, which was set up in memory of the Sandy Hook Elementary victims. In honor of the 26 victims, the goal of the foundation is to build 26 playgrounds.
