West Islip Patch Editor Bids Farewell

A big thanks to the West Islip community.

After more than two and a half years at Patch, it's bittersweet to announce that today will be my last serving as your editor.

I have had the pleasure of covering the West Islip community for the past year and a half. During that time, we have witnessed several tragedies, a devastating hurricane and the closure of two beloved elementary schools. But we've also celebrated two graduations, a lacrosse state championship and the launch of new businesses throughout town, as well as hundreds of other happy day-to-day moments.

I want to extend a huge thank you to West Islip's team of bloggers and community contributors. You have all helped to enrich the site and build it into the community hub it has become. And of course, thank you to our loyal readers. Don't worry, you're in good hands.

I'm pleased to pass the torch to Ryan Bonner, an experienced and talented editor who will be taking over the site. You can reach him at ryan@patch.com.

Thanks to all of you who have welcomed me into your business, meetings, and inboxes each morning. You made this job fun, exciting and rewarding.

Though I started out as a stranger to this community, I'll now take a little part of West Islip with me wherever I go.
