West Islip School Budget Approved, 2 Trustees Elected

The budget includes a 1.60 percent increase in the school tax levy.

WEST ISLIP, NY — Residents in the West Islip School District have approved a 2021-21 school budget by a margin of 1,234 votes to 521.

In addition, the proposition for use of capital reserves also passed, 1,347 to 392.

The $127.5 million budget is a 2.49 percent increase over the current year and includes a 1.60 percent increase in the school tax levy, within the state's tax cap.

Incumbent Richard Antoniello and Deborah Brown both won seats on the school board.

Richard Antoniello - 922 votes

Deborah Brown - 1,007 votes
