A winter weather advisory has expired for Long Island, but strong, potentially damaging winds remain in the forecast for Monday.
The latest forecast calls for maximum wind gusts of 50 mph. That's down from 60 mph in earlier forecasts so a high wind warning has been replaced by a less severe wind advisory, which will be in effect from 2 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday.
The strongest winds will be from around sunrise Monday until late Monday afternoon, the National Weather Service says.
