1 Seriously Injured In Northern Westchester Rollover Accident

A firefighter was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries, officials said.

SOMERS, NY — One person had to be extricated from a car after it rolled over in an accident Tuesday on Route 6 in Somers.

According to a Facebook post by the Somers Volunteer Fire Department, the accident happened around 9:15 a.m. near Windsor Road.

Lake Mohegan Fire District responded to the scene first because their personnel were already at a fire alarm nearby.

They began working on removing the driver of the car, and Somers assisted when they got there.

Fire officials said a medical helicopter was requested and a landing zone was set up at the Jefferson Valley Mall.

One person in serious condition was taken to the hospital by helicopter. One firefighter was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, authorities said.

Fire officials said the New York State Police are investigating the accident.
