2 Taken To Hospitals After Taconic Parkway Bridge Crash
What looked from one angle to be a truck hanging on a guard rail over the Croton Reservoir turned out to be quite different.

YORKTOWN, NY — As fire and ambulance responders rushed to a reported accident on the AmVets Bridge on the Taconic Parkway at 4 p.m. Thursday, it looked as if one of the vehicles might be hanging on the guard rail over the Croton Reservoir.
But when they arrived on the northbound bridge, they saw the crash from a different angle.

Yorktown firefighters in C2531, 2534, Rescue-Engine 270, Rescue 16, Engine 272, Engine 274 responded on the alarm.

While on the southbound bridge, the fire official in Car 2534 could see the accident on the northbound bridge with what appeared to be a vehicle in the air, but couldn't tell if it was hanging over the bridge's guard rail. A ladder truck from Millwood was requested in case a high point for a rope rescue would be required.
Officials arrived, found nothing over the edge, and returned Millwood's ladder.

Among the emergency responders were volunteer Yorktown firefighters, responders from the Yorktown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, paramedics from Empress Emergency Medical Services and Croton-on-Hudson Emergency Medical Services.
Two people were treated and transported to local hospitals, fire officials said.
The crash snarled rush-hour traffic on the Taconic.
