7-Vehicle Crash Sends 2 To Hospital
The crash happened at the intersection of routes 100 and 35 in the town of Somers.
SOMERS, NY — A seven-vehicle crash in the town of Somers sent two to the hospital, one of whom is in critical condition. The New York State Police said the crash happened around 3 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of routes 100 and 35 in the town.
Police said its preliminary investigation found that a box truck, being driven by Dondre Birch, 26, of the Bronx, was going west on Route 35 when it crossed the double yellow line and struck a vehicle driven by Ted Dimond, 54, of New York.
Dimond's vehicle then hit a third, with debris from his car hitting two other vehicles.

Birch's box truck kept going west and hit a sixth vehicle, which caused it to hit a seventh which was parked on the side of Route 35.
Dimond was taken to Westchester Medical Center in critical condition. Birch was also taken to Westchester Medical with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Police said no other serious injuries were reported.
The cause of the first crash is still under investigation.
