Here's what the proud parents had to say about their son:

"We would like to nominate our senior son, Austin DeLonge. Austin is a senior at Yorktown High School. We are so very proud of Austin. The last 4 years have been difficult as Austin has been dealing with health issues and surgeries, with him having to be have schooling from his teachers in our home for a few months each year until senior year. Despite this, Austin worked hard to achieve good grades, and never let his spirit down. He's a kind, caring, empathetic individual who puts his all in everything he does. Austin earned over 400 hours volunteering with the preschoolers at Gymboree Play & Music of Yorktown, and has focused on his art throughout the last four years, participating in four art exhibits. He is studying Graphic Design at the BOCES Tech Center, and will continue studying art after graduation. We love him so much, believe in him, and can't wait to see where he goes from here!"
