Coronavirus: State Supreme Court Justice Milligram Dies
Milligram presided over the 9th Judicial District, which covers Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties.
MONROE, NY — A state Supreme Court justice has died as a result of the new coronavirus. The death of Justice Steven Milligram, 66, of Monroe, was confirmed Tuesday by the Orange County Bar Association.
Milligram was elected in November to the Supreme Court, after serving eight years as Monroe town justice, the Times Herald-Record said.
He had been a partner at Catania, Mahon, Milligram and Rider.

Milligram presided over the 9th Judicial District, which covers Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties.
State Sen. Pete Harckham, a Democrat from South Salem, representing the 40th District, said he was deeply saddened by the news of Milligram's death and he sent his condolences to the justice's family and friends.

"He brought an incredible amount of respect, dignity and wisdom to the courtroom, first as Monroe town judge, and since January to the 9th District," Harckham said.
"On this side of the Hudson River we were just beginning to appreciate his kind and temperate presence," he said. "To have lost him now just makes this already sad season more mournful."
