Cortlandt Man Accused Of Having Illegal Drugs
Police said there were pills and pot in the man's possession.
YORKTOWN, NY — A Cortlandt Manor resident was accused of having illegal drugs.
The Yorktown Police Department said Navit Azizi, 23, of Cortlandt Manor, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, and second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.
Police said, around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, an officer conducting a business check of the McDonald's on Crompond Road when he saw a car parked and running in the parking lot.

The officer checked on the driver — Azizi — to sure he wasn't in need of help.
While speaking with him, the officer saw a clear plastic bag containing marijuana on the front passenger seat.

During the investigation, the officer found that Azizi had an active warrant out of the city of Peekskill.
Also, Azizi was in possession of Alprazolam pills in a clear plastic bag in the waistband of his pants.
He was arrested and taken to the Yorktown Police Department for processing.
Afterward, Azizi was released on his own recognizance to the custody of the Peekskill Police Department.
He is scheduled to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court March 25.
