Board of Education Meeting

Yorktown School Board members will meet on Monday, Dec. 16 at 7 p.m. at the middle school's cafeteria. The meeting was rescheduled from Dec. 9 to Dec. 16 due to the weather. Click here for the agenda. 

Yorktown Town Budget Vote

Yorktown officials have closed the public hearing on the preliminary 2014 town budget after hearing from several community members. Board members are expected to vote on the budget during their meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 7:30 p.m. Read more about it here. Click here for the agenda.

Lakeland High School Winter Concerts

The Lakeland High School winter concerts will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 17 and Thursday, Dec. 19 in the Lakeland High School auditorium at 7 p.m. The high school chorus and orchestra will perform on the 17th and the band and orchestra on the 19th.

Somers BOE Meeting

Somers school board members will meet on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at the Somers High School library. The meeting was originally scheduled for Dec. 10 but postponed due to the weather. 

Parents for a Common Cause Meeting

Members of the District Parents’ Council (DPC) of the Lakeland Central School District have launched Parents for a Common Cause, an organization created with the goal of educating parents about Common Core while providing them with a voice in the discussion.  They will hold a meeting at Lakeland High School on Dec. 18 at 7 p.m., which will provide information to parents about the Common Core Standards, Curriculum and Assessments, and explain how they can bring their voice into the discussion. Yorktown High School Concert 

The high school's winter concert has been rescheduled from Tuesday, Dec. 10 to Thursday, Dec. 19.

'Longest Night Service'

On Friday, Dec. 20 at 7:30 p.m., the First Presbyterian Church of Yorktown at 2880 Crompond Road, Yorktown Heights will offer its 'Longest Night Service.' Sometimes known as “Blue Christmas,” the candle-lit worship service offers "hope, support, prayer and quiet reflection to those for whom the advent season may also brings sadness, loss, and worry." Winter Solstice Celebration in Somers

The Somers Library is holding a Winter Solstice Celebration on Friday, Dec. 20 at 3:30 p.m. Children can learn facts about the Sun, make an orange pomander, decorate (and eat!) a cupcake. For all ages with parent or caregiver. Please register in advance.
