Work began recently as the spot was cleared of root and plant growth. The area will be covered with topsoil and then grass will be planted. A work crew of both young and old prepared the ground, and a church member brought in a small bulldozer to help finish the job.

The church is working with certified labyrinth facilitator Lynn Brown who will lay out the Chartres style seven circuit labyrinth. Boy Scout troop 165 will be building a box to hold a guestbook.

According to Tami Seidel, co-pastor, plans are underway to dedicate the labyrinth in early fall. The labyrinth will be open to the public and will be listed on the World Wide Labyrinth locator.

This effort is part of First Presbyterian Church’s certification process for GreenFaith. GreenFaith includes organizations from diverse religious traditions who wish to demonstrate and grow their commitment to environmental stewardship.
