The Friends of Hilltop Hanover Farm, as part of NYS's celebration of maple syrup weekends, has been sponsoring a pancake breakfast for the past two weekends to sellout crowds. Adding to the excitement of the breakfast has been the Westchester County's 4 H Club - "Hooves, Beaks, and Bills Club" - displaying their adorable goats - including one a few weeks old. In addition, the Yorktown Grange's Tractor Club has presented a demonstration of vintage tractors and other working machinery over a 100 years old. Also, Yorktown's Starbucks, managed by Laura Dettmann, provided complimentary cups of coffee before and after the breakfast. Plus, the Yorktown Lions, led by President Jim Poulin, and Yorktown High School students assisted in staffing the event.

This community event actually included three farms: Hilltop Hanover Farm (held the breakfast), White Oak Farm (supplied the maple syrup), and Hemlock Hills Farm (provided the bacon and sausage). Directions were distributed after the breakfast to attendees who could then see the syrup being made at White Oak Farm and then to Hemlock Hills Farm where the bacon and sausage are produced. Farming and agriculture are alive in northern Westchester County!
