Stackhouse followed Hernandez to the entrance of the City of Newburgh Aquatic Center at the corner of Route 9W and Washington Street.
There, Stackhouse stabbed Hernandez numerous times, causing his death.
Several people tried life-saving measures on Hernandez, but they were not successful.
Hoovler said senseless violence on our streets cannot be tolerated and his office will hold those accountable who commit acts of violence.
"As a result of this plea, the defendant will receive some measure of punishment that he deserves, the victim will receive some measure of justice for his death, and society will be sent the assurance that violent actions will not be condoned," he said.
