Harckham, Astorino To Appear At League Of Women Voters Forum

The league will use the video conferencing application Zoom and the candidates will be joining from their own chosen location.

NORTHERN WESTCHESTER, NY — Incumbent Democratic Sen. Pete Harckham and Republican challenger Rob Astorino will attend the League of Women Voters virtual forum from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21.

The league will use the video conferencing application Zoom and the candidates will be joining from their own chosen location.

South Salem's Harckham was elected to serve the 40th state Senate District in 2018. Astorino, a Hawthorne resident, was Westchester county executive and ran unsuccessfully for governor in 2014.

Harckham is also appearing on the Working Families and Independence party lines. Astorino will also be on the Conservative Party line.

A spokesperson for the league said the forum is meant to be a respectful, nonpartisan event that encourages civil discourse.

State Senate District 40 is comprised of Beekman and Pawling in Dutchess; Brewster, Carmel, Patterson and Southeast in Putnam; and Briarcliff Manor, Buchanan, Cortlandt, Croton-on-Hudson, Lewisboro, Mount Kisco, Mount Pleasant, New Castle, North Salem, Peekskill, Pleasantville, Pound Ridge, Sleepy Hollow, Somers and Yorktown in Westchester.
