Hazardous Weather In Hudson Valley Forecast For Week
A cold front could trigger some thunderstorm, followed by gusty winds.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Hazardous weather could be on tap for much of the Hudson Valley this week. While thunderstorms are not expected for Monday, Tuesday is another story.
The National Weather Service said a strong cold front will move through the region Tuesday with showers and possible thunderstorms.
For Columbia, Dutchess and Ulster counties, there is a marginal risk for thunderstorms to produce locally damaging winds Tuesday afternoon.

Behind the cold front, gusty west to northwest winds are expected Tuesday evening through early Wednesday afternoon.
The forecast is calling for wind gusts up to 45 mph, and the weather service said if gusts are thought to be greater than that, then a wind advisory will be issued.

For Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties, there is a low probability for widespread hazardous weather Tuesday afternoon with the approaching cold front triggering a few thunderstorms.
The strongest storms could produce brief strong winds and hail.
Here is the National Weather Service forecast for northern Westchester for the week:
- Today: Partly sunny, with a high near 54. North wind around 11 mph.
- Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 35. Light and variable wind.
- Tuesday: Showers likely before 2pm, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm between 2pm and 5pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5pm. Some of the storms could produce small hail and gusty winds. Patchy frost between 7am and 8am. High near 53. South wind 7 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
- Tuesday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly before 7pm. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 28. Wind chill values between 15 and 25. Blustery, with a west wind 15 to 20 mph.
- Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 49. Breezy, with a west wind 17 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph.
- Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 34.
- Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 56.
- Thursday Night: Rain likely, mainly after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 44. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
- Friday: Rain likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 55. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
- Friday Night: Rain likely, mainly before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 40. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
