After breakfast and some visiting at Hilltop Hanover Farm, guests will be directed to White Oak Farm (680 Croton Lake Rd, Yorktown Heights) only two miles away. Bri Hart, the owner of the southern most sugar house in New York State, will give a free demonstration on how tree sap is converted to maple syrup. Hart and his staff tap over 2,400 trees for their maple syrup. In fact, it takes forty gallons of sap to produce one gallon of maple syrup. Hart will explain the entire process and provide some samples to taste. His farm store – just like Hilltop Hanover’s farm stand– will be open for business. You can contact White Oak at bhart@whiteoakfarm1.com.

Added to this year’s farm visits is Hemlock Hill Farm, located at 500 Croton Ave, Cortlandt Manor. It’s only a ten-minute ride from Yorktown. There you can purchase hormone and antibiotic free foods available at its market year round. Visit its website for more information: www.hemlockhillfarm.com.

When you are finished touring these three farms, return to Yorktown Heights and enjoy an afternoon coffee and dessert, grab a sandwich at the area delis and supermarkets (such as Turco’s and Edwin’s), or enjoy dinner at an array of restaurants (including Peter Pratts, Yorktown Coach Diner, and Pappous Greek Kitchen).

The New York State Maple Producers Association is sponsoring this Statewide event. Come and support Hilltop Hanover Farm, White Oak Farm, and Hemlock Hill Farm - three of northern Westchester County’s agricultural destinations.
