Jefferson Valley Mall To Stay Open; Owner Files Bankruptcy
A spokesperson said the process is not expected to materially impact its operations.

YORKTOWN, NY — Jefferson Valley Mall will be staying open even though its owner has filed for bankruptcy protection.
Washington Prime Group has filed voluntary petitions for relief under Chapter 11 in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas.
The group owns Jefferson Valley Mall in Yorktown Heights and Chautauqua Mall in Jamestown in New York. It also has properties in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington and West Virginia.

A spokesperson for the group said the process is not expected to materially impact its operations, retailers, vendors and partners where the malls are located.
"We expect business as usual at our town centers," the statement said. "WPG plans to continue operating as normal with a primary focus on the health and safety of our guests, retailers, employees and communities."

The group said in its announcement that the COVID-19 pandemic has "created significant challenges for many companies, including Washington Prime Group, making a Chapter 11 filing necessary to reduce the Company's outstanding indebtedness.
"Throughout the restructuring process, the Company remains committed to serving as a preeminent operator of retail town centers and will continue to serve its guests," the announcement said.
Jefferson Valley Mall retailers include Bath & Body Works, Dick's Sporting Goods, H&M, Macy's, Ulta Beauty, Orangetheory Fitness and Peekskill Brewery.
