Kathleen Grose Of Yorktown Heights Dies

She began her career as an ER nurse at Yale New Haven Hospital and spent many years caring for patients in Westchester County and the Bronx.

YORKTOWN, NY — Kathleen Patrice Healy Grose passed away peacefully on the morning of March 9, three months after suffering a heart attack. She was the beloved wife of her husband, Mark Grose, for 38 years, loving mother of daughters Heather Lenseth, Christine Grose and Laura Grose, son-in-law Robert Lenseth and cherished grandmother of Ella and Georgia Lenseth.

She was born in 1953 in Waltham, MA, to John and Virginia Healy. She was raised a member of Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Shrub Oak and graduated from Lakeland High School in 1971. In 1975, Kathleen graduated with a degree in Nursing from Russell Sage College in Troy, NY. In 1979, she wed Mark Grose at St. George’s Church in Mohegan Lake. She spent most of her adult life residing with Mark in Yorktown Heights and became a devoted parishioner of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Yorktown.

She began her career as an ER nurse at Yale New Haven Hospital, and spent many years caring for patients in hospitals and nursing homes and practicing home health care in Westchester County and the Bronx.

She was and will be forever admired by her many friends and family for her tremendous energy and determination, lifetime of dedication to nursing and care-giving, and her loyalty and grace. She was an avid fly-fisher and enjoyed hiking, kayaking, playing tennis and coaching youth lacrosse when her daughters were young. Lovingly known as Kay Kay by her granddaughters, her family holds many fond memories of summers spent together on the beaches of Cape Cod.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 20 at new St. Patrick’s Church in Yorktown. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the Brewster Land Conservation Trust and the Croton Watershed Chapter of Trout Unlimited.
