Lakeland Schools To Hold Budget Hearing Tuesday

Voters will be going to the polls May 18 to approve a $168 million spending package for 2021-22.

SHRUB OAK, NY — The public hearing on the proposed 2021-22 budget for the Lakeland Central School District will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Walter Panas High School.

The proposed budget is $168,255,026, with a 2.15 percent increase over the 2020-21 spending package.

School officials estimate the following tax rate changes:
  • Yorktown: -0.8 percent
  • Cortlandt: 0.3 percent
  • Somers: 1.9 percent
  • Putnam Valley: 0.8 percent
  • Carmel: 0
  • Phillipstown: -0.1

The annual budget vote will be from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 18. Polls will be at Van Cortlandtville Elementary School, 3100 East Main St., Mohegan Lake.

Three three-year board of election seats are up for a vote. Incumbents Angela Conti, Michael G. Daly and Karen Pressman are on the ballot.
