
With autumn in full swing, Yorktown officials began leaf pickup this week, Recycling Coordinator Kim Angliss-Gage shared with Patch.

Leaves packed in 30-gallon paper biodegradable bags will be collected by the town's Refuse and Recycling Department crews in the orange trucks until Dec. 13 on your recycling days.Â
Here are a few reminders:
- Paper leaf bags can be purchased at the Refuse and Recycling Department office (behind the police station) Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; a bundle of 50 bags cost $20; or individually $0.40.
- Only leaves will be collected; no branches or grass clippings.
- Tuesday, Nov. 5 (Election Day), Leaf Bag and Recycling collections in Section 6Â will be on Wednesday, Nov. 6.Â
- In recognition of Veteran’s Day, town offices will be closed on Monday, Nov. 11
- Leaf Bag and Recycling collections in Sections 1 & 7 will be on Tuesday, Nov. 12; and for Section 6 collections will be on Wednesday, Nov. 13.
- Thanksgiving week, Nov. 25 – 29, there will not be Leaf Bag Collections.
