Montrose Man Accused Of Driving While License Suspended

Police said the man was initially stopped for running through a red light.

YORKTOWN, NY — A northern Westchester County man was accused of driving while his license was suspended.

The Yorktown Police Department said Jahsir Doughty, 21, of Montrose, was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor, and passed steady red light traffic signal, a traffic infraction.

Police said, around 9:45 a.m. Friday, an officer on patrol on Route 6 in area of Sunnyside Street said he saw a car travel through a red light.

The vehicle was stopped in the parking lot of 930 East Main St. and Doughty was identified as the driver, police said.

A routine check of his driver's license found his driving privilege was suspended in New York for failing to answer previous summonses, police said.

He was arrested and issued two summonses, after which he was released on his own recognizance.

The car was released to a licensed driver.

Doughty is next scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court June 15.
