Obituary: Barbara Ann Appelbohm Thomas, 79

YORKTOWN HEIGHT, NY — Barbara Ann Appelbohm Thomas, longtime resident of Yorktown Heights, died on April 13, 2021. She was 79 years old.
Barbara was an assistant professor of nursing at Westchester Community College retiring a few years ago. Before working at WCC, she was the director of nursing at Pace University. Barbara was an RN and held an M.A. in Community Health Nursing from New York University, M.S. in Nursing and an Advanced Certificate in Family Nurse Practitioner from Pace University.

With over 30 years of teaching experience in nursing for Graduate, Baccalaureate and Associate Degree programs, her passion to educate students was a driving force. Throughout Barbara’s career, she had many publications and was part of a research project focused on geron-techonology, helping the elderly population use technology.
She will be remembered as a kind and caring woman who wore colorful clothes and unique jewelry. Her love for her family and friends will forever be treasured.

She is survived by her husband Jack Thomas, her son Greg (Christine) Thomas, her grandchildren James, Ryan, Kate and William and sister Marilyn Heiner.
