Obituary: Jeffrey Scalf, NYPD Detective Dead Of COVID-19

Jeffrey Allen Scalf died April 13 at New York Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital in Cortlandt. He was 46.

Jeffrey Allen Scalf, loving father, husband, and friend, passed away on Monday, April 13th at NYP Hudson Valley Hospital in Cortlandt Manor, NY at the age of 46.

Jeff was born on January 11th, 1974 in Johnson City, TN to Charles & Tresia Scalf. He graduated from Science Hill High School in 1992 and from 1992 to 1996, he served honorably in the United States Marine Corps, earning the Expeditionary Medal for his service during Operation Uphold Democracy. In 2006, he joined the New York City Police Department and was promoted to Detective in 2015 where he was a member of the NYPD Bronx Gang Squad.

Jeff married his best friend, Taina on November 11, 1995 in Jacksonville, NC. Together, they raised three amazing children, Alex, Maria & Charli. Jeff was a true family man who enjoyed fishing and sports, especially basketball and the Tennessee Titans.

Jeff is preceded in death by his parents Charles & Tresia Scalf. He is survived by Taina, his best friend and wife of 24 years and their 3 children, Alex, Maria & Charli.
