Obituary: John W. (Bill) Roberts, 81, Of Yorktown

YORKTOWN, NY —John W. (Bill) Roberts, a resident of Yorktown for 53 years, died on May 3, 2020. He was 81 years old. Bill worked as a Senior Court Reporter for the NY State Supreme Court until his retirement in 1995. He was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus. In May of 1965, he married Carol Ann Armisto in Ossining. On May 22, they would have been married 55 years.

Besides his love for his family and friends, Bill enjoyed golfing, bowling, US history and vintage cars — especially his 1967 VW Bug. He enjoyed summers in Cape Cod and, more recently, exploring parts of Colorado with family.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Sally Roberts of West Dennis, Massachusetts, and his sister Lynne Roberts of Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Bill is survived by his wife Carol Roberts of Yorktown Heights, his son Jim Roberts, daughter-in-law Marie and grandchildren Jennifer and Brandon all of Broomfield, Colorado, his son Brett Roberts, daughter-in-law Dawn Roberts and grandson Trevor of Stormville. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews and loved them all very much.

A service will be held for immediate family only. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the family has decided to defer all other activities until the crisis is over. A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at a date and time to be determined. Donations in Bill’s honor can be made to the Yorktown Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
