Peekskill Man Accused Of Resisting Arrest After Traffic Stop

Police said the man came to their attention when he was seen going faster than the speed limit.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Peekskill man was accused of resisting arrest after he tried to make a quick getaway, police said, during a traffic stop. Yorktown police said Clayton Javaun Henry, 24, of Peekskill, was charged with suspended registration and resisting arrest, misdemeanors, as well as numerous traffic violations.

Police said, around 8:15 a.m. Sunday, Henry was seen driving a car faster than the speed limit.

After he was stopped, an officer said Henry drove away from the scene.

He was pursued, and when stopped, the officer said Henry tried to leave the scene on foot.

The officer said the man resisted arrest, but was subdued after a brief struggle.

A check of Henry's car's registration found he was driving while his privilege to do so was suspended for a lapse of insurance.

He was arrested at the scene, was issued an appearance ticket and was about to be released on his own recognizance, when he needed to be taken to Northern Westchester Hospital for a medical condition that wasn't related to his arrest.

Henry was released to the care and custody of the hospital staff.

He is scheduled to be appear in court March 19.
