Plans For Trader Joe's Filed With Yorktown: Report

The filing confirms months of rumors that the specialty grocery store was coming to Route 202.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Trader Joe's will indeed be built in the Lowe's shopping center on Route 202, TapInto Yorktown reported Tuesday morning.

Preliminary construction has been going on since January on the southwest corner of the shopping center just off the Taconic Parkway, Yorktown News reported. The company, which had filed a Freedom of Information request, said the plans were submitted Friday.

The Lowe's Home Improvement store opened in 2019, after years of fighting over plans for a big shopping center there, originally to be anchored by Costco.

Starbucks opened a store there in January. Breslin Realty said at the time that additional retail in the shopping center would include AAA, Slice Pizza and a 12,500-square-foot specialty grocer.

The closest Trader Joe's are in Danbury and Hartsdale.
