Patch: Why did you decide to run for election?
Christopher Foley: I decided to run because it’s an opportunity for me to expand on my now 7.5-year involvement in Somers town governance.
Patch: What personal or professional experiences qualify you to serve as a town board member?
Foley: My experience as a longtime member of the Somers Planning Board, and as an attorney, qualify me to serve as a Town Board member.
Patch: What are the top three issues facing town residents?
Foley: The top three (3) issues are: (i) how to maintain current service levels without raising taxes (which includes, as a “sub-issue,” how to reduce costs); (ii) the development of "long-term” solutions to the town’s needs; and (iii) affordable housing.
Patch: Describe your campaign platform or how you differentiate yourself from your opponents' platforms?
Foley: I differentiate myself, first and foremost, on the basis of my Planning Board experience, which brings with it a working knowledge not only as to how projects are reviewed, but also as to the particulars of the major projects currently under consideration.
Patch: Should you be elected, what would you like to achieve over the course of your term?
Foley: If elected, I would like to bring greater transparency to the workings of the Town Board, and to set a precedent for the encouragement of greater community involvement in Town Board decision-making.
