Strong Wind Gusts Could Cause Damage In Hudson Valley

The National Weather Service has issued wind advisories for much of the region.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Strong wind gusts are in the forecast for much of the Hudson Valley Wednesday, leading the National Weather Service to issue wind advisories.

The advisory is in effect from 2 p.m. Wednesday to 2 a.m. Thursday.

For Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties, west winds will be 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.

For Columbia, Dutchess and Ulster counties, west winds will be 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. As a cold front moves through, there is the chance of thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon. There is a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms with the main threat being damaging winds.

The weather service said gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down, and a few power outages may result.
