Thunderstorms In Forecast For Hudson Valley's Weekend

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Enjoy your Friday, because stormy weather is on the way for the weekend in the Hudson Valley. The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for parts of the region for Saturday.

The outlook pertains to Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties.

It said there is the potential for scattered strong to severe thunderstorms Saturday afternoon into the evening. Damaging wind gusts are the primary threat.

AccuWeather Meteorologist Ryan Adamson said there will be more humidity moving into the region Friday night, along with an area of showers and thunderstorms.

"The evolution of the threat for severe weather on Saturday afternoon will be dependent on exactly how far the rain and storms from Friday night advance and how quickly they move away on Saturday morning," he said.

Here is the forecast through the weekend for northern Westchester County from the National Weather Service.

• Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 84. West wind 6 to 8 mph.
• Friday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 63. Light west wind.
• Saturday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 3pm. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 81. Southwest wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
• Saturday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 11pm. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. West wind 3 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
• Sunday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 85. West wind 5 to 7 mph.
• Sunday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 9pm. Mostly clear, with a low around 65.
• Monday: Sunny, with a high near 86.
